Testimonials

HG Education have been working with a number of our students identifying barriers to learning and liaising closely with teaching staff to overcome these. They have provided detailed feedback which has enabled targeted intervention and they continue to work very positively with students towards achieving their academic targets as well as raising aspirations.

Mark has worked at St Cecilias for over a year building a positive rapport with the Pupil Premium students he has been Mentoring. Mark has got to know the students as individuals and been able to over support for academic progress, CEIAG and dealing with problems faced by each individual. Mark has been a valuable asset to St Cecilias.

Mark has provided independent and impartial advice and guidance for our pupils from September 2013. We have found Mark to be professional and accommodating in all aspects of his role. Pupils have provided positive feedback about individual meetings with Mark. He has also provided a point of contact for our parents/carers via email.

HG Education provided our Y12 students with guidance on options outside the HE sector. The presentation was very detailed and delivered in a professional manner with good interaction. They also conducted one-to-one interviews with students who had little idea on what they can do post A levels and provided a wealth of information in a structured conversation. The experience and knowledge that HG education have working with guidance provision made them a valuable asset to our 'what next week'.

HG Education was brought in to work with a targeted group of young people. These young people lacked the motivation, drive and focus required to achieve a positive set of GCSE results which ultimately would lead to either further education, apprenticeships or a full time job. Mark from HG Education has worked closely with these students and through rigorous mentoring has provided them with the necessary support and guidance to hopefully allow them to flourish at the College.

The advice that Mark gave me was invaluable to myself and my fellow students. He has been instumental in me gaining interviews with some world renowned companies such as Rolls Royce BAE Systems and GEC Alston.

I would recommend Mark to any student who needs to be mentored or given some careers guidance and advice.

I cannot thank him enough.

During my time at KGV College Mark Holt was my tutor for Politics. During that time I had been going through a very difficult part of my life and had been very depressed. Mark helped me through this time and if it wasn't for his constant support I don't think I would have made it through college. The faith Mark placed in me during this time drove me forward and helped me progress with my life. I have just finished University studying Music Technology at Leeds Met achieving a 2:1 and I am due to continue my studies to Postgraduate level within the field of Acoustics. Top teacher, top bloke, I wish him nothing but the best.

Mark Holt has been our mentor since year 10 and as we are now coming to our revision time for our exams we want to let him know how beneficial our mentoring sessions have been. We have all taken massive steps whilst working with him from him encouraging us to attend extra Maths and English sessions to giving us advice on future careers and college courses. Mark has instilled a belief in us all and has encouraged us at every opportunity. We can all talk to Mark and he has helped us improve and realise what we can achieve in life. He has got us on track and he is someone we can talk to about personal issues, we wish we could have seen Mark sooner it has been great. Thanks for everything.

Since around year 9 I was mentored by Mark, at first being highly reluctant to attend meetings with him as the school had tried to set me up with other people like him which had failed, however, this attitude changed as I got to know him I believe that due to having meetings with Mark my school career was turned around completely he helped me develop emotionally and academically meaning through his motivation I was able to achieve grades which reflected my ability and not my attendance or behaviour. Mark also managed to stimulate my passion for politics which has resulted in me now going on to study it at A level at Newman college something I don't believe would've been possible without his help, Mark has been a great help over the years and a real kick in the ass!

Mentoring for me, well I started year 11 with a poor attitude and an unfocused feeling towards school. I was referred to different classes, different teachers etc nothing was helping I hated school! Time went on and school referred me to a guy called Mark Holt who works with 11-16 year olds across the country. At first I was a bit weary and confused cause I honestly thought it was another trick by school to try get me focused we spoke week after week and my attitude and mind set changed completely! He made me see sense I had realised it's what you give is what you get and so I decided to keep my head down and space myself from trouble as much as possible he helped me not only with school but issues which were personal to me and he really helped me open up and decide what I really want in life! Thanks to him I'm an electrical and mechanical engineer at Stagecoach and if it wasn't for him I'd be still unfocused with no GCSE's life! I recommend him to anyone he is ace! Thank you so so much.
